Production Team Leader

We are currently seeking a motivated Production Team Leader to join our Production Department and take responsibility in varied duties as follows:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
STANDARDIZED WORK
- Ensure that standardize work is being followed.
- Complete regular audits, and keep records
- Collect data and develop detailed training plans for any associate that fails to meet objectives.
ASSOCIATE TRAINING
- Responsible for ensuring that on the job training is carried in line with the operational standards.
- Up-date Training Matrix and plan in combination with ensuring consistent job rotation for each associate.
COMMUNICATION
- Communicate effectively with team to include safety, quality and production requirements
- Update Communication Boards regularly to ensure documents of Quality, Safety and 5S are satisfied.
- Constantly reference the daily Production Schedule throughout shift and inform Management of any issues that may affect the build.
PROBLEM SOLVING
- Problem solving sheets (fishbone diagrams, Why-Why is required to be applied as necessary).Training will be provided with this methodology if required.
TEAM BUILDING
- Ensure team building strategies are in place revolving around the key functions - safety, quality, continuous improvement.
LEADERSHIP
- Team Leaders are instrumental in meeting all objectives.
- Planning is a key function of this position. Ensuring proper manpower is in place to cover the production build and making plans to catch up and / or work additional hours to meet production requirements.
- Working closely with other Team Leaders to share resources and ensure manpower requirements can be achieved
- Planning additional work, 5S and maintenance when required
- Generating work schedules and rotations for your area
SAFETY
- Team Leaders must assure that all safety related activities are followed without exception including the use of PPE, following safety policies and advising workers of the hazards.
- Provide data to Management for any injury, illness, near miss or property damage. Seek medical assistance for injured workers where appropriate.
- All incident reports are required to be completed before the end of shift.
- Proper rotation of your staff is a key element of safety planning (reduce repetitive strain injuries).
5S
- Ensure to follow 5S procedures with regards to ensuring all parts are properly stored in a neat and orderly manner.
- Ensure “First in First Out” (FIFO) is adhered to as per customer requirements.
- Regular housekeeping must be completed and a record keeping system (lineside 5S Check Sheet) should be maintained to ensure proper follow up.
KAIZEN – ASSOCIATE INVOLVEMENT
- Promote Kaizen with your team, motivate and strive for continuous improvement activities within the plant.
- Team Leaders are expected to lead Kaizens on their team. Problem solving teams need to be established and objectives set for those teams.
- Records of all meetings should be kept using the daily Production Report

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to plan, analyze and make viable decision in a JIT work environment to ensure efficiency and timely implementation. Should have solid understanding of ERP / MRP systems
Strong communication skills both written and verbal, math skills and knowledge of 5 ‘S’,
Strong organizational skills, willingness and ability to work overtime as required, ability to train and coach others, lead by example and maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act and completion of 5 step safety awareness as per Ministry of Labour.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 2 years of working in a manufacturing/automotive environment and preferably with automotive but manufacturing experience is a must.

- Able to work independently or within a team. Must be self-motivated.
