Operations Technician (Ops Tech)
Job Summary
The Operations Technician provides operational and technical support for heavy civil construction projects by coordinating field activities, tracking production, managing equipment utilization, and supporting project controls. This role bridges field operations and project management by ensuring accurate reporting, efficient resource allocation, and effective communication across project teams. Key Responsibilities
- Support daily construction operations across multiple project sites.
- Track equipment utilization, labor hours, and production quantities.
- Coordinate field logistics, deliveries, and equipment scheduling.
- Maintain daily reports, production logs, and operational records.
- Assist with work planning and look-ahead schedules.
- Monitor project performance against budgets and production targets.
- Support estimating and quantity verification.
- Coordinate field requests for materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Assist with project forecasting and productivity analysis.
- Prepare operational dashboards and KPI reporting.
- Support quality assurance and safety initiatives.
- Assist with implementation of operational improvements and best practices.
- Participate in site meetings and communicate operational priorities.
- Assisting with tender preparation and estimating.
- Maintaining equipment and fleet records.
- Coordinating mobilization and demobilisation activities.
- Supporting environmental compliance and permitting requirements.
- Managing field digital field data records.
Qualifications
- Experience in heavy civil construction or infrastructure projects would be an asset.
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment operations and construction sequencing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
- Experience with GPS machine control, construction software, or project management systems is an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both in the office and on construction sites.
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or related discipline is an asset
