About Us
Adventure Lights designs and manufactures rugged, mission-critical electronic safety products used worldwide in aviation, marine, industrial, and rescue environments. Our products are known for their durability, reliability, and long service life, often operating for years in extreme conditions.
We value technical expertise, consistency, and people who take pride in solving real-world problems.
Your Role
As a Senior Electronics Technician – Embedded Systems in the R&D team, you are a hands-on technical specialist working directly alongside design engineers to bring new products from concept to validated prototype.
This role is built around building, testing, and debugging – not following a fixed playbook. You will assemble and bring up prototype boards, run validation tests, identify and chase down failures, and support the engineering team across all phases of hardware development. You thrive in an environment where specifications are still evolving and where you own the bench work end to end.
Your Key Responsibilities
Prototype Build & Bring-Up
- Assemble and bring up prototype PCBs (SMT, through-hole, and manual rework)
- Execute validation and characterization tests on prototype hardware
- Operate bench instruments fluently (oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power supplies)
- Identify and document failures, and work with engineers to root-cause and resolve them
Embedded Systems & Firmware
- Flash, configure, and iterate on microcontroller firmware during prototype bring-up
- Debug embedded systems at board and system level using JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, and serial interfaces
- Run functional and performance verification tests on electronics and firmware builds
Test Fixtures & Tooling
- Build, maintain, and improve test jigs and fixtures
- Support automated and semi-automated test systems
- Ensure repeatability and traceability of test results
Lab Notes & Traceability
- Keep clear records of test results, hardware revisions, and observed anomalies to support engineering decisions
Your Qualifications & Skills
- Technical diploma in Electronics or Electro-Mechanical Technology
- Strong hands-on experience in electronics assembly and debugging
- Familiarity with microcontrollers and embedded systems
- Ability to read schematics, datasheets, and assembly drawings
- Comfortable working from evolving or incomplete specifications – R&D is never fully defined
Assets
- SMT assembly and prototype rework experience
- Python scripting for test automation
- BLE/RF experience (testing, validation, or product integration)
- Fine-pitch hand soldering capability (0201) – major asset
- Basic version control familiarity (Git) for scripts and test code
What We Offer
- Senior technical role with clear scope and accountability
- Hands-on work with mission-critical embedded products
- Stable, long-term employment in a globally respected company
- Competitive compensation aligned with senior technician roles $60,000-$75,000 based on experience
- Opportunity to deepen technical expertise
