Job Title: CNC Machine Operator
LOCATION: Regal Rd. Guelph, ON N1K 1B5
We are seeking a motivated CNC Machine Operator with strong mathematical and analytical skills. The ideal candidate will support the machining and production process by operating CNC equipment, assisting with machine setup, and performing non-repetitive machining tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC machine tools to perform production machining operations – including turning, milling, drilling, and boring – in an efficient and timely manner.
- Assist machinists with the setup and operation of CNC milling and lathe machines.
- Safely and effectively load and unload parts to achieve and maintain established cycle time standards.
- Monitor tooling and take appropriate steps to maintain tools in optimal working condition.
- Perform required quality checks, including cleaning and verifying part dimensions using precision measuring instruments, and complete all associated quality documentation.
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and daily machine checks in accordance with maintenance and safety procedures.
- Complete SPC charts and implement corrective actions based on SPC training.
- Submit suggestions related to lean improvements and workplace safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following established housekeeping practices, including chip removal and workspace organization.
- Follow all company rules, policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with peers, machinists, engineers, quality assurance staff, and management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production needs
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12 education.
- 2-3 years of experience in a CNC machining environment.
- Working knowledge of CNC programming for mills and lathes.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze SPC data.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring tools, including calipers, digital indicators, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, charts, quality documentation, and symbols related to tolerances and surface finishes; knowledge of GD&T is an asset.
- Ability to read, interpret, and act on CMM reports.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong desire to expand knowledge and experience within the CNC machining trade.
- Available to work day and evening shifts as required.
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazak, Haas, or similar CNC controls preferred.
- Experience with both custom, prototype and short-run to long-run production an asset.
