NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION: REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE
Day Surgery
Primarily Site: Clinton
Casual
REPORTS TO: Manager, Surgical Services and MDRD
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: $28.45 to $30.18 per hour
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Completion of IV Therapy course
- Completion of IV Start course
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two (2) years recent nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred with the ability to work to full scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
Experience in cardiac nursing preferred
Recent 12 lead ECG interpretation course (current experience)
Recent Cardiac Arrhythmia course (current experience)
BCLS
Skilled in Medication Administration
IV drug administration
Insertion of Gastric tubes
Flushing of PRN adaptors
Subcutaneous portal insertion and drug administration
Excellent physical assessment skills
ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of or the ability to quickly comprehend the Meditech Information System and personal computer applications
Ability to plan, organize and exercise effective decision making
Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking, communication and problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and function both independently and interdependently with the interprofessional care team
Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education
Ability to meet the physical demand of the position
