Packaging Machine Operator - $16-18/hr

Mississauga, ON

We are hiring on behalf of our client a fast growing, family-owned food company who looking for packaging machine operators to join the morning and afternoon shifts for a permanent, long-term position!

Position Summary

The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for setup, adjusting and operating various pieces of computerized and manual packaging equipment to ensure that daily packaging requirements are met.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the setup of the packaging machines to ensure efficiency, quality and safe practices
  • Setup and change product materials in a quick, efficient manner
  • Ensure that all code, date, units/label printers are properly set up
  • Setting up, cleaning and calibrating all scales to maintain accurate weight control
  • Ensure the line runs at or exceeds efficiency
  • Provide QA with product as required for testing
  • Record all equipment downtime and properly log information for maintenance purposes
  • Complete all required production paperwork
  • Palletizing skids of finished product
  • Follow and practice all GMP’s, HACCP and SQF protocols - Previous knowledge is great but you will be trained on this if not
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the packaging area
  • Work in accordance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures and maintain a safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

 

Requirements:

  • Previous Machine Operator experience
  • Computerize packaging machine experience is an asset
  • Previous experience in the food/beverage industry is great but not required
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient ability to speak, read, write and take direction in English
  • Good mathematical and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP and SQF principles is an asset but will be trained if not
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in order to meet deadlines
  • Able to work in a fast paced work environment and have good attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and the ability to work effectively with a team as well as work independently as needed
  • Ability to engage in routine walking, standing, bending and carry  items weight up to 40 lbs plus for extended periods of time
