We are a leading tier 1 automotive supplier looking to grow our team in Barrie, Ontario. We are looking for a Machinist with at minimum a 1-year certificate from a technical school or college. 


  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers and grinders. Position and fasten work as required
  • Measure, examine and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments.
  • Set up adjust and operate basic machine tools and specialized or advanced variation tools
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and specialized or advanced variation tools onto machines. Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings and engineering information to determine methods to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances
  • Select appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used in machinery work
  • Layout, measure and mark metal stock in to display placement of cuts
  • Observe, listen and diagnose machine malfunctions to determine adjustments or repairs
  • Minimum Grade 12 and 1 year certificate from college or technical school
  • Must have ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions with ability to write simple reports and speak before small groups
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical interference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts, fractions, percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions  written, oral or diagram form
  • Must be able to multi task while working independently or as a team
