DESCRIPTION:
Instrument Analyst to operate Purge & Trap and/or Headspace analysis in the VOC department

• Perform analysis of water and soil samples using Purge and Trap and/or Headspace GC/MS
• Processing, checking and validating analytical data
• Maintain instrumentation in optimized and calibrated condition, troubleshoot instrumental problems
• Perform sample, reagent and calibration standard preparation
• Verify data and generate final client reports
• Be familiar with and adhere to all QC procedures. Meet quality and turnaround time specifications as required by the client.
• Ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures are followed.
• Maintain performance charts as per the QA/QC manual requirements, monitor for failure to meet tolerances and institute remedial action immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in chemistry or Technical Diploma or equivalent
• 3 years experience in environmental chemistry
• Previous working HS or P&T GC/MS experience required
• Computer literate, fully familiar with Microsoft Excel
• Must be flexible in working hours (evenings, weekends) during peak periods
• Good written and verbal communication skills, problem solving and organizational skills
