The Construction Manager will assist the Project Manager in developing strategies to maximize safety, quality and productivity. In addition, the Construction Manager will review, analyze, plan, coordinate and lead all activities within the construction environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, organizes, coordinates and assigns work in production locations as per schedule requirements.
- Provides training and support to employees.
- Monitors product standards and maintains quality-control programs.
- Assures adequate materials, tools and equipment are available for construction.
- Responsible for progressive discipline.
- Reports disciplinary issues that may result in suspension or termination directly to the Project Manager for further action.
- Performs performance evaluations each year and progress reports every three months thereafter.
- Assists in motivating construction staff, when necessary.
- Coordinates sub-contractors and materials to meet schedule requirements.
- Coordinates movement of units and stacking.
- Verifies and approves all construction workers’ time sheets.
- Monitors vacation schedules, time sheets and overtime approvals.
- Ensures project procedures are followed, project correspondence and documentation is completed in a timely manner.
- Knows, understands and follows the Code of Conduct and employment policies, rules and regulations.
- Complies with standards and procedures of the health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Previous experience in a steel fabrication or construction considered preferred.
- Must have Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) training.
- Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) training required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to use scheduling software such as MS Project an asset.
- A good working knowledge of Building Codes and materials for pre-engineered steel structures.
- Positive and energetic person with a strong affinity for working well in a team environment.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in a clear, concise and confident manner.
- Exceptional time-management skills; ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks quickly.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong affinity for providing a safe environment for all shop employees, ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Exposure to outside elements.
- Must have CSA approved safety boots.
- Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation.
