As a member of our Structural Engineering  team, the incumbent successfully leads structural components of multi-disciplinary projects with the direction of a Senior Structural Engineer. The Intermediate Structural Designer possesses the ability to manage resources and schedules while maintaining a high quality of work.
The role requires the ability to build strong rapport with our project teams, as well as representing our company by assuming the responsibility of delivering accurate, complete, and high standard work.

Major Responsibilities:
 


  • Develop, or work with the Team Leader and Project Manager (PM) to develop, various project scopes while proactively identifying and responding to changes with team members and PMs
  • Develop structural designs, drawings and specifications independently, or as part of a team of engineers
  • Coordinate information with drafting staff and designers clearly and completely
  • Check drawings for completeness and accuracy
  • Support construction by performing compliance inspections, resolving construction problems related to structural design, and coordinating with clients and contractors
  • Represent the Structural team by coordinating with all groups effectively through a sound understanding of other disciplines
  • Understand, complete and/or oversee: concept and design development, codes and standards compliance, field review and review of shop drawings, as well as site surveys for retrofits
  • Coordinate and schedule production activities and quality assurance reviews
 
Skills/Abilities Required:



  •  Licensed member of P.E.O.
  •  Minimum 5 years of experience in consulting engineering environment on multidisciplinary projects
  •  Knowledge and experience in analysis and design of concrete, steel, and masonry structural elements for institutional, industrial, commercial, healthcare and/or energy projects
  •  Knowledge of relevant codes and standards
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in AutoCAD Knowledge and/or experience in and use of structural software such as ETABS, SAFE, and RISA
  • Experience in projects requiring interface between structural software, such as ETABS or Revit would    be considered an asset
  •  Strong communication and presentation skills to interact with project teams
