Technical Colour and Pattern Designer

Mitrex, an Integrated solar and construction solution provider, is looking for an experienced, full-time Technical Colour and Pattern Designer to develop and test patterns for our solar glass and cladding products. We are looking for someone with a minimum 2 to 5 years of colour and pattern design.

We are Mitrex Inc., a purpose-based developer and manufacturer of Integrated Photovoltaic Systems (such as BIPV) for buildings and large structures (Mitrex.com). As the world's first manufacturer to develop customizable "solar" solutions that are price-competitive with traditional cladding panels, we are on the verge of revolutionizing the industry, while helping to move the world toward clean, sustainable energy production.

Competencies

• 2 to 5 years of in-depth experience in pattern making.
• Post-secondary education is an asset.
• A strong understanding of colour theory, colour enhancement, and digital colour formulas 
• Experience with LAB colour matching is an asset.
• Experience with colorimeters and spectrophotometers is an asset.
• Strong understanding of glass printing & ceramic ink.
• Proficient with adobe photoshop, illustrator and Microsoft office.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Ability to adapt to sudden design changes as required.
• Able to work in a fast paced, start-up environment.

Responsibilities

• Create colours and patterns for prototypes, samples, and production.
• Use Adobe Photoshop to manipulate digital colour formulas to enhance colour printing results.
• Grade colours and patterns by creating and maintaining graded measurement specifications.
• Ensure patterns are consistent with factory capabilities and processes.
• Monitor samples progress and coordinate with internal teams to ensure deadlines are met.
• Effectively communicate design intent and construction to factory staff as needed.
• Print on wide sheets of glass using ceramic ink.
• Complete assigned tasks throughout all stages of the design and production process in a timely manner.
