POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The mission of the STEGH Outpatient Mental Health Program is to care for those who access our services, enable their participation in related decisions concerning treatment, and proactively coordinate their access to other health care services if required. It supports learning and continuous improvement through the delivery of evidence-based, safe, efficient, quality-oriented, and values-driven services. A recovery approach assists clients in developing personalized, goal directed supportive care plans that offer skill development and education.

As a Social Worker MSW, you will provide expert mental health assessments, therapeutic support and education to registered STEGH outpatients and their supports. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and physicians and develop strong partnerships with other community health services.  The outpatient clinician will report to the Manager of the Mental Health Program.

HOURS:

This position must be available to work days, weekends and/or statutory holidays. In addition, this position must be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to meet the operational needs of the department.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Regulated Health Professional who holds current active membership with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW);
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work;
  • Minimum five (5) years recent, related experience working in mental health and addictions field;
  • Ability to establish a therapeutic relationship with outpatients and their supports experiencing mental health and addiction challenges within the context of individual and group therapy;
  • Ability to provide support using evidence based treatment modalities such as Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to effect positive change in the individual’s mental state and coping;
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership skills with a proven track record of achieving results and sustained outcomes;
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in completing psychosocial screening, assessments and consultation;
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with peers, interdisciplinary inpatient staff, outpatients, families, and community partners;
  • Advanced ability to promote the values of interdisciplinary team collaboration;
  • Ability to demonstrate a facilitative teaching approach with outpatients, families, staff and community partners, and a good working knowledge of adult learning principles;
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills (both verbal and written);
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis;
  • Proven excellent performance record;
  • Foster a culture of outpatient and staff safety guided by STEGH’s Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work. Any candidate entering the facility to attend an interview will be required to provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status. To be considered fully immunized, individuals need to have received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days earlier than the date they arriving to an interview or to begin work at STEGH.
