POSITION: ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST

SALARY: $39.99 - $51.04

 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Charge Ultrasound Technologist works under the general direction of a DI Manager/Designate and collaboratively with the Chief Radiologist in the department. The Charge Ultrasound Technologist is required to work closely with the Diagnostic Imaging Manager to plan, organize and direct day-to-day technical operations to ensure timely, accurate and reliable results. Ensures efficient and effective workflow, minimizing wastes, makes recommendations for process improvement, policies and procedures, assists in implementing change and monitoring its effectiveness.   The incumbent will provide advanced technical and professional guidance to technologists/Students as required. Will be a resource to troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with communicating with service providers.  Will be a liaison to Cambrian/St Clair College and will be committed to providing a high level of teaching for all students. Will be responsible for creating a student rotation that will meet and satisfy all components of the program.

 

HOURS:

7.5 hour shifts, 7 days a week.  Days, evenings, nights, weekends and vacation coverage and/or statutory holidays.

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology Program
  • Current registration with CMRITO mandatory
  • Minimum of five (5) years Senior Sonography experience preferred
  • Current BCLS certification (preferred)
  • Proficient in interventional ultrasound procedures
  • Demonstrated high level of competency in all aspects of general, vascular, OB, Breast and MSK
  • Ability to operate relevant equipment and software for imaging, non-imaging and patient care applications is essential (PACS, HIS/RIS, Imaging Applications)
  • Proven ability to support the efficient operation and workflow of the department, ability to help coordinate daily staffing rotations and coordinate assignments based on daily demands
  • Ability monitor and address back log volumes, and maximize efficiencies to improve wait times.
  • Capability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with various patient care team members and participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to facilitate and coordinate Sonography students, including organizing clinical rotations to deliver a clinical instruction program that will meet and maintain current standards and a program of excellence
  • Proven ability to certify clinical competency for Sonography students and correlate clinical training and didactic knowledge that correlates with the Colleges guidelines
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated dependable performance and attendance record
