Accounts Payable Clerk

Established in 1902, at Trenton Cold Storage our specialty is customized temperature-controlled warehousing and distribution. We provide Canada with more than 34,000,000 cubic feet of cold storage and refrigerated warehouse space in our seven Ontario and two Alberta facilities. We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Starting from $19.38 per hour

Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday-Friday. Hours may vary based on business needs.

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Finance & Accounting Manager, the Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for filing, maintaining, and updating financial spreadsheets and performing other administrative duties of the Accounts Payable department. This includes maintaining ledgers, credit balances, and account irregularities. The A/P Clerk will also ensure the timely and accurate processing of payment documents such as purchase orders, travel reimbursements, stipends, and any other accounting transactions related to A/P management.

Key Accountabilities:

• Sort accounts payable mail
• Match, appropriately code, and key in all invoices that need to be paid and file vouchers in a temporary file until the check run.
• Organize vouchers for the cheque run every Wednesday
• Set up electronic payments & Intercompany transfers in HSBC
• Complete month-end journal entries to update all division statements.
• Balance inter-company general ledger codes.
• Reconcile, enter and file HST Returns
• Preparation of work working papers for expense accounts at Year-End

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• S.G.D
• Community College program in business/accounting, with formal accounting training
• Vocational training for payroll would be an asset
• Must be double vaccinated against COVID 19 virus (we will accommodate on Medical and religious exemptions)
